James P. Crawley
James Patrick Crawley, who had announced plans to seek election to the Circuit Court in the 2014 election, has now folded his campaign.

Crawley released this statement concerning his decision:
This past January I embarked on a quest to receive the endorsement of the Democratic Party and run countywide for Circuit Court Judge of Cook County. Since then, I have met with over 50 Democratic Party Committeemen across Cook County, and have been found well-qualified or qualified by the judicial evaluation committees of the various bar associations that have issued their bar ratings thus far.

Given the limited number of countywide vacancies this year, it recently became apparent that I would not receive the Party's endorsement this election cycle as a first-time candidate. On July 18th I made the difficult decision to suspend my campaign and I informed the leadership of the Democratic Party that I was withdrawing my name from consideration for a countywide vacancy. Should an additional vacancy open in the 10th judicial sub-circuit between now and the primary, I informed the Party of my desire to be endorsed in that race.

Over the past several months, I have had the honor and pleasure of getting to know a number of other candidates running for judge. I have been impressed by the caliber of their experience and their commitment to public service and I wish each of them well.

I wish to thank those who backed my candidacy, including those within the Democratic Party who offered their support. I look forward to running again in 2016 and hope that I will once have your backing.

I look forward to returning to my law practice as a member of the trial bar, and tackling the stack of work that has accumulated on my desk. I remain an applicant for associate judge, and look forward to continuing with that process.
